A Wealth of Knowledge at our Inquisitive Student Fingertips

This month is annual Black History Month in Great Britain, during which time events take place up and down the country to promote knowledge of black history, culture and heritage. Liverpool is already working its way through a packed calendar of events headed by the Liverpool Slavery Museum at the Albert Dock. Events include performances, talks, music, dance, and craft activities and most are free, so what better time to take on some self education and explore our national history – plus depending on your subject it might even be relevant to your degree, so added student brownie points there!

While you’re down at the docks also make sure, if you haven’t already, to visit the new Museum of Liverpool. Open daily 10am–5pm the brand new museum, in its very cool and very modern shell, sits in pride of place on the historic Liverpool water front. The museum focuses on the life and cultural history of our city, is free entry and has lots of mixed media and hands on exhibitions as well as 4 new exhibition galleries due to open on the 2nd Dec. Once the student loans have run out you’ll be gagging for free things to do with your days, so make the most of free events this month and keep an eye on the Liverpool museum calendars for other events coming up towards Christmas.
