Liverpool is renowned for celebrating in style and this Chinese New Year is no different. If you’re looking to celebrate the year of the goat, we know the best places to head in the city.

Chinatown is obviously a great starting point if you’re looking to celebrate this weekend and the majority of the celebrations begin on Sunday 22nd February in the city centre.

At 11am, the Chinese market will start at Great George Street, at noon, the famous dragon and lion street parades will leave from Chinatown and at 1pm, the crowds will head back to Great George Square for a fireworks display.

Liverpool’s museums are also hosting a range of activities and performances to welcome in the new year – find the full guide here.

If you fancy staying in this weekend, it’s the perfect opportunity to host your own celebrations! Head to the Chinese supermarket up by the Baltic Triangle, and decorate your student accommodation with as many Chinese lanterns as you can find.

Happy New Year!
