Hundreds of UK music festivals are due to take place over the next few months, in fact some have already started – If only they did student prices! People everywhere are praying for the sun and preparing to call a muddy field home for the weekend. So what do we have to look forward to? Here are some of the big names…

We’re extremely lucky in Liverpool, as every year we have an amazing range of cultural festivals happening right on our doorstep, and not only that, most of them are free! Our student accommodation is bang in the middle of the action, in the Smithdown Road, Sefton Park and Georgian Quarter areas, so you guys have no excuses – get yourselves down and check them out!

18th & 19th June: Africa Oye Festival – £free!
Be a part of the UK’s biggest African Festival – for free! Amazing music, food, stalls and activities. Bring a bottle and veg out on the grass in Sefton Park.

1st – 10th July: Liverpool Arabic Arts Festival – £free!
Outdoor music, performance, real life stories, fantastic exhibitions and family friendly events, held in venues across the city centre.

9th July: Anthony Walker Foundation Festival – £free!
Take part in exciting sports activities and feel the positive heartbeat of Liverpool’s youth community. Mountford Hall Guild of Students, City Centre.

15th – 17th July: Brazilica Festival – £free!
An energetic weekend Brazilian style! Samba, workshops and parties all weekend, with a massive Rio Carnival style parade through the City Centre on the Saturday night – not to be missed!!

28th & 29th August: Mathew Street Festival – £free!
A must for all you Beatles fans out there. Absorb the music of Liverpool, and tributes from all over the world in over 40 venues across the city.

3rd Sept: Liverpool Food and Drink Festival – £free!
Sample some of the best food and drink that Liverpool has to offer during a fabulous day at Sefton Park.

18th Sept: Hope Street Feast Festival – £free!
Urban village fete of the Hope Street Georgian Quarter, full of the music, dance, theatre, art, great food & drink, local produce and learning that characterise Hope Street’s special contribution to Liverpool life.
